Gov't Mule
The NorVa
06.06.06
Norfolk, VA
Bad Man Walking was the first offering at the NorVa this evening and
began a set of blues-power-rock, played Mule-style. Bad Little Doggie
and Lola Leave Your Light On kept the crowd grooving at the same
energized pace set by the show opener. The rest of the set continued in
the same fashion with blistering renditions of I Can't Quit You, World
Gone Wild and Painted Silver Light. Created in the studio this spring,
Three String George added a unique N'Awlins-style vibe to the.
The first song of the second set, Life Before Insanity, very well
could have referred to tonight's show because the upcoming set was
insane. I'm A Ram was thundering display of talent that snuck into Love
Me Do and returned to I'm A Ram with the same ferocity with which it
began. Sco-Mule continued to amaze as did the post-Drums Fallen Down
that featured a jam on the way out called the Sgt. Major Minor Jam.
Time To Confess seemed to lift us all from our feet and Mule almost
blew the windows out as the set closer. Truly a show-stopper, both
literally and figuratively, To Love Somebody was the dessert on
tonight's menu. Thanks Norfolk! Let's do it again soon.
